About Our
ʻOhana
Our story, our roots, our legacy
Our Story
Our story begins with our kūpuna, whose lives brought our ʻohana together long before us. From that foundation came Walter Bismark Kekinokoko Book Jr. and Ida Cypriano, who carried that legacy forward.
Married in 1935, they raised eight children and built a home grounded in aloha, hard work, and strong family values.
Today, our reunion includes not only their descendants, but also the families of their siblings — all branches of our ʻohana connected through the same roots.
Our Roots
Our roots run deep through the Koko, Book (Buch), and Cypriano lines — a blend of cultures and traditions that shape who we are today.
Walter, born in Lahaina in 1915, was the son of Elodia Kaohiwelu Koko and Walter Frederick Book.
Ida, born in Hilo in 1916, was the daughter of Mariano Cypriano and Julia Souza Jardin.
Our story reaches back to the kūpuna before them — whose families grew into the many branches that connect us today.
A Legacy of Generations
Walter and Ida’s ʻohana now spans islands, states, and generations — including the families of their siblings. Their legacy lives on through all of us.
Honoring Our Kūpuna
We honor those who came before us — their strength, sacrifices, and love continue to guide us today.
Why This Reunion Matters
- Reconnect with ʻohana
- Meet family for the very first time
- Share stories and traditions
- Strengthen the bonds that tie us together
- Honor our kūpuna and carry their legacy forward
Carrying It Forward
As we come together, we also look ahead.
It is our kuleana to pass down our stories and values so the next generation will always know where they come from and who they belong to.
Through unity, we continue the legacy of our kūpuna and the foundation laid by Walter and Ida.
